[Feb 2021] Moved from Hong Kong to Savannah, Georgia.

[Feb 2021] Working on a book chapter about how to utilize computational methods to analyze text and visual data in the context of social media.

[Jan 2021] Research article on digital culture and luxury goods in China got accepted by a SSCI journal.

[October 2020] I feel so proud that my research article titled “Hero on Twitter, Traitor on News: How Social Media and Legacy News Frame Snowden The International Journal of Press/Politics” got 100 citations (without self-citations) in five years.

[September 2020] I designed a syllabus titled “Introduction to Computational Social Science”

[July 2020] Check out my new research project with Dr. Guan Lu on “Best practices for teaching in a completely online environment during COVID-19: An analysis of university professors’ teaching reflections in China”

[March 2020] I accepted an offer from Savannah College of Arts and Design in the U.S. and will move to the beautiful city of Savannah in coming September. [link to my story]

[December 2019] I was invited by Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai and gave a talk at the Forum for International Young Scholars.

[October 2019] 2019 marks my fifth year at SCAD. I got the 5-Year Achievement Award!

[March, 2019] I made the President’s List of Teaching Excellence again.

[January, 2018] I am awarded for teaching excellence! It does mean something in a liberal arts college like SCAD, which puts so much emphasis on fostering a student-centered environment. [link to my story]

[August, 2017] I was invited by Annual Conference on Digital Media Studies in Beijing to present my research study titled “An Analysis of the Public Profiles of Digital Humanities Scholars”.

[May, 2017] Published! My new work on human production! Welcome my baby boy to the world!

[June, 2016] I was invited by Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School to give a talk titled “Data Journalism: From Story to Product”. [slides]

[May, 2016] I was invited as the moderator the 2016 CityU Workshop on Computational Approaches to Big Data in the Social Sciences and Humanities. Check out the amazing speakers, who are pioneering computational social scientists. [link]

[November, 2015] My talk titled “The Utility and Effectiveness of Social Media in the Higher Education Classes” was highlighted as SCAD Hong Kong Faculty Development Council Fall Quarter Event.
